paycheck-to-paycheck

Let me just set the record straight for you.

Paycheck to paycheck IS poverty.

It’s not okay, we have to level up as fast as possible and get “paycheck to paycheck” a thing of the past.

Galatians 3:13 “Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law…” -What’s the curse of the law? Poverty, sickness, and death.

We HAVE BEEN (past tense) redeemed from poverty.  Christ did that for us because He loves us and He knew exactly what it was: A curse.

2 Corinthians 8:9  “You know the generous grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. Though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that by his poverty he could make you rich.” – Oh and He wasn’t talking about “spiritual riches,” – look it up, He was talking about money riches.

In John 10:10 Christ proclaims “I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows)” -AMP

Christ CAME to give us life in abundance. Paycheck to paycheck is NOT abundance, that is lack.

I’m adamant about this topic because I want to light a fire under you to get out from the curse of paycheck to paycheck and over into the land of freedom, the land of more than enough.

When we are free from paycheck to paycheck we can do the things we enjoy, the things we are excited about, the things God has called us to do. We don’t have the constraints that come with having financial burdens. You’ll experience a peace and a freedom that you’ve never known before.

So how do we stop living paycheck to paycheck?

I’ll tell you.

But you probably won’t like the answer:

First and foremost, you HAVE to be a tither. It’s the reason I’ve never missed a payment on any bill in my life. Then, implement these three steps:

•You give your way out of it.

•You speak your way out of it.

•You believe your way out of it.

That’s it. Rinse and repeat.

I know you wanted to hear some practical and tangible advice, what to invest it, what college degree to get… But the bottom line is, it’s a spiritual battle.

Remember, God thought poverty was bad enough that He called it a  curse, and then He sent His Son to die and be crucified so that we could be redeemed from it.

That’s big.

So, since Christ already broke us from the curse, let’s go ahead and choose to walk in abundance.

Here is what we’re going to do:

Go to God and let Him know you’ve had enough of the poverty cycle, paycheck to paycheck is not for you and you’re done with it. If you’ve made poor financial decisions that have got you stuck, repent, and ask God for the wisdom on how to get out of it. Don’t beat yourself up about it, genuinely repent and move on. God will forgive you and help you.

Next, you need to make up your mind and your heart, that you are going to be generous.

Generous in all areas. With your time, love, stuff, and most definitely your money.

Some would say, “Uh, that doesn’t make sense, if I’m trying to increase financially, why would I give money away?”

Because of the secret that is help in Proverbs 11:24-25:

“Give freely and become more wealthy; be stingy and lose everything.

The generous will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed.”

Give freely and what? Become more wealthy.

How do I become more wealthy? I give freely.

It’s backwards to how the world thinks. Isn’t that just like God?

Choosing to become generous, and actively pursuing it, putting a priority on it, is what took my life financially to the next level. It’s what opened the door to God’s blessing that God me out of the paycheck to paycheck cycle.

2 Corinthians 9:7-8 (AMP) says Let each one [give] as he has made up his own mind and purposed in his heart, not reluctantly or sorrowfully or under compulsion, for God loves (He takes pleasure in, prizes above other things, and is unwilling to abandon or to do without) a cheerful (joyous, “prompt to do it”) giver [whose heart is in his giving]

Then it goes on to say,

And God is able to make all grace (every favor and earthly blessing) come to you in abundance, so that you may always and under all circumstances and whatever the need be self-sufficient [possessing enough to require no aid or support and furnished in abundance for every good work and charitable donation].

I want you to meditate on this, write it down, put it on a notecard, add it to your confession sheet, whatever you have to do, take these two scriptures, make them first person and GET THEM ON THE INSIDE OF YOU.

Let me show you exactly how this works if you’re in a tight money situation:

You get up in the morning and get alone with God, pray a little bit, read the Word a little bit, and then you get up and speak out loud over yourself, declare this with complete confidence KNOWING that God is your Shepherd, your Caretaker, your Supplier,

Speak like this, “God I thank you for abundance today, financial increase is all about my life, I’m blessed everywhere I go and in everything I do, God Your Word promises that you take pleasure in me, you prize me above other things and you are unwilling to abandon or do without me because I’m a cheerful, joyous, prompt to do it, heartfelt giver!

You said You’d make all grace and EVERY favor and earthly blessing come to me in abundance, that means raises, promotions, businesses, even cars, and money! You said I’d always have, no matter the circumstance, whatever the need, I’d possess enough to give to every good work and charitable donation!”

Remind God of His Word and His Promises, He likes it when you do!

Even while typing this I can feel my faith getting built up, it’s exciting. I promise if you speak like this, God’s supernatural peace will fall over your you.

I’ve spoken that exact declaration literally for years. I’ve spoken it when money was tight, and I kept speaking it until I had abundance.

That’s how this works, the more you speak it, the more you hear it, the more you hear it, the more you believe it, the more you believe it, the more you have faith in it.

And that’s when you see the results.

Once you realize you’ve won the spiritual battle, it’s just a matter of time before you see it in the natural realm.

Over the years, God has steadily increased me financially (and in all areas!)

By staying plugged in and planted at my Church, serving there, connecting with people there and staying faithful, God has brought me from being broke into abundance.

The Bible says that God is “no respecter of persons.” That means that if He did it for me, He will do the same for you.

Action Steps

  1. Tithe and give above that generously. Be led by the Lord and have no fear of running out.
  2. Speak and declare (out loud) the confession from 2 Corinthians 9 each day, especially when money is tight.
  3. Believe that you receive, have complete and total trust that Jesus has given you life in abundance and you’re going to walk it out today.
  4. Stay disciplined, seek God’s wisdom in ALL you do, and live right.

Get excited, you’re on the way to financial freedom. This stuff works. God is your Provider, He will give you opportunities, strategies and ideas to increase your way into abundance.

Make sure you eliminate all negative words and counterproductive phrases. As you’ll remember from Module 1, your words can increase you or decrease you.

IF you truly want increase, you’ll speak increase. Your words create your world. So let’s go get after it!
