Tithing: Let God Increase You

The Tithe. One of my favorite topics to talk about.

Besides giving my life to God and getting filled with the Holy Spirit, tithing is the best decision I have ever made.

It has transformed my life in more ways than I can count. It has taken me to the next level in my finances, in my peace, and in my relationship with God.

The main scripture we use for instructions on tithing is Malachi 3:10-12:

10 Bring all the tithes (the whole tenth of your income) into the storehouse so there will be enough food in my Temple. If you do,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, “I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won’t have enough room to take it in! Try it! Put me to the test! 

11 Your crops will be abundant, for I will guard them from insects and disease. Your grapes will not fall from the vine before they are ripe,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.

12 “Then all nations will call you blessed, for your land will be such a delight,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.  (NLT)

To me, it sounds like a pretty sweet deal. Give God back 10% of your income (hey it’s all from Him anyway!) and He hooks you up.

Let’s take a look at the benefits of tithing:

• God opens the windows of Heaven for you.
• He pours out a blessing so great you won’t have room to take it all in, you’ll have to pass it out to others.
• He lets you test Him in this area. He basically double dog dares you to try Him.
• Your crops (what your business produces, your finances, your accounts, your investments) will be abundant.
• Your money, your stuff, your crops will be protected. The NKJV version says “I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, so that he will not destroy the fruit of your ground.” -BONUS!
• The nations will call you blessed, because they will see your land (your home) is such a delight.

As you can see, the benefits of tithing FAR outweigh the initial sacrifice it takes to start giving your first 10% of your income to God. (It quickly moves from a “sacrifice” to an “opportunity.”)

That’s some good stuff right there! Since I committed to tithing when I was 19,  I have NEVER missed or even been late on  any payment of any kind. God has continually shown himself real to me and has brought all kinds of miracles, blessings, opportunities,  and strategies that have brought about the increase I needed at just the right time.

God has consistently increased me financially from the time I started tithing and will always do so. I have always made more money (and given more money!) each year, than the previous year. It’s been a constant climb to greater and greater, more and more, it’s the life of increase and the ONLY way to walk in it daily is to be a tither.

On the flip-side, I want you to see what it looks like when you don’t tithe.

Does it seem like you’re always struggling? Like things just don’t ever work out? If it’s not one thing, it’s another…

Here are the “Symptoms” of a non-tither:

But here is the best part:

The tithe brings about the snowball effect of increase. Tithing opens the windows of Heaven, God pours out increase on you, He pours out blessings, He pours out finances, and when He does this, you now have a new opportunity to Tithe and give off of that increase, and when you do, you get hooked up even more! Then you can give more, then you can get more, then you can give more on and on. This is how you achieve guaranteed financial growth.

It’s all because I tithe. I committed to it. I’m all in. If I get some form of income or increase, 10% goes straight to my local church.

But here’s the key about tithing you HAVE to get: You can’t “tithe” once in a while. You can’t say “well we’d like to tithe more, but money is tight, so we tithe when we can.” – I gotta break it to ya, that’s NOT tithing. That’s  just giving some money to the church when you have a couple bucks left over.  Operating this way, DOES NOT give you access to the benefits listed above. You are either a Tither, or you’re not. You are either in or your out, if you dive in and commit to giving 10% of all your income back to God you will walk in the fullness of His Blessing.

And that’s a great place to be.
